Overview
The Organic Garden & Farming Program by Lift Them Up Foundation (LITU) is a sustainable initiative designed to improve nutrition for children while teaching practical agricultural skills.
This program combines food production and education, ensuring that children not only receive healthy meals but also learn how to grow and care for their own food.
Program Objectives
The project is built on two main goals:
Improve Nutrition: Grow fresh fruits, vegetables, and salads to support healthy meals for school children.
Educate Children: Teach children essential gardening skills, including planting, nurturing crops, and composting.
Through this initiative, children develop a deeper understanding of agriculture, sustainability, and the importance of healthy eating.
What Children Learn
The program provides hands-on learning experiences where children are actively involved in:
Planting and harvesting crops
Watering and maintaining gardens
Understanding composting and soil care
Learning the value of sustainable farming
These skills not only support their daily lives but also empower them with knowledge they can use in the future.
Our Journey
The project started with humble beginnings, focusing on preparing land for cultivation. With the strong support of dedicated volunteers, the garden gradually grew into a thriving space.
Key milestones include:
Preparing and cultivating the land
Building a protective fence around the garden
Planting and harvesting crops such as corn
Introducing fruit trees like bananas and papayas
In 2023, the program reached an important milestone with the establishment of a greenhouse, allowing for more efficient and sustainable crop production. Due to its success, plans are underway to build an additional greenhouse.
