Important Information about visa and entry requirements

Referred Visa

US travel document & referred visa holders:

  • Provide proof of having host in Tanzania
  • The host should provide detailed information including
    • Physical address
    • Telephone number
    • Employment or Business (ID)
  • Non-US Citizens:$50 (Single entry)
  • Non-US Citizens:$100 (Double entry)
  • Approval for referred visa is given from the Immigration head office within 6 weeks of submitting application.
Transit Visa
  • A transit visa is permission to cross through Tanzania from one entry point to another
  • It is issued for a maximum of two weeks, provided that the applicant is in possession of onward tickets, sufficient funds and an entry visa to the country of destination
This type of visa is NOT issued at the Embassy, it is issued at boarder or point of entry.
 
N.B: Visa Fee is NON REFUNDABLE.

Residence permits

Residence permits are NOT issued at the Embassy are issued at Tanzania Immigration Office, you will have to apply for this on your arrival

Hours of operation and processing time (Mondays to Fridays, Except Holidays)

Visa processing hours are 9:00am to 1:00 pm for submitting applications and 2:00pm to 5:00pm for picking up visas.

Visa processing takes a minimum of five (5) working days for regular process.

The duration to remain in the country is determined by the immigration officer at the port of entry or Immigration Office.

All visas are valid from the date of issuance. In the event a visa expires before it is utilized, the applicant will have to re-apply for a new one.
